Jenay and Beritan Final Prelim

Panic School (less wobbly?)

Evaluation || Question Seven

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

There's a copy on my blog of my preliminary.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=FBIZihs1RMM

In my preliminary I feel I have learnt a lot to the last piece of coursework I have produced. Firstly I learned how to use the camera long shot and short shot.

Long Shot

Short Distance
Another one, is that we learned to how to use the camera and how to make it not wobbly and effective for the audience to enjoy. For example in the preliminary the camera was keep moving up and down and not going the same way as the character. We used camera techniques inside of using Final Cut Pro too much. For example, in our final piece coursework by using the camera we did 180 degree rule by holding the camera still and turning around too show that the character is feeling dizzy.

It's not a good example put I posted it on my blog of my final piece of work.

In preliminary we didn't care about the background noise and what was happening in the setting. After, watching our preliminary and noticing the background sound created bad impression on the film we decided to make sure that there's no one in the room and noise was in the room. As our film was a horror film, being in school alone in class room creates scariness to the character and to the audience wondering what's happening why's there's no one in the class/school?

Also, in the preliminary we didn't put transitions and sounds from final cut pro. After getting used to Final Cut Pro we discovered that we can put sound tracks from Garage Band and transitions from Final Cut Pro. It made made our coursework film much better by putting everything together not making it go jumpy. Also, my adding sound tracks it created tension and excitement making the audience wondering what's going to happen.
This how we did editing and added sound tracks.

Another one is that camera zooming in. In the preliminary we didn't use the camera to zoom in and out. In the final one we used a lot of zooming in. This created tension on the film and make it exciting it. By making the camera shake and zooming in creates tension on the scene. Audiences enjoy it when the camera shakes and zooms in they get excited and enjoy watching the film.

This is the scene in our final coursework where we used zooming in and shaky the camera at the same time.

Although we had correct amount of time, we didn't keep it up by the time management. In our preliminary we was hushing it and not making it good enough. But, in our coursework we thought about the time's and and how long each scene going to take,

Lastly is the Mise-En-Scene. Mise-En-Scene is very important and special. I believe making sure the make up, props, clothing etc correct would make the filming exciting. In preliminary we wore normal clothes not wondering if it goes with the subject were talking about. Also, we didn't use no make up or props in our preliminary. In our coursework we used the school equipment's about the school girls and our clothes was smart to show she's from the school.

Evulation || Question Six

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Evaluation || Question Five

 How did you attract/address your audience?

Evaluation || Question Four

Who would be the audience for your media product?

Tuesday 1 May 2012

Evaluation || Question Three

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Evaluation || Question Two

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Evaluation || Question One

 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

For our media product we choose our genre to be horror because Jenay and myself enjoy horror films and thought it would be great to do an horror film. Our film was 2-3 minutes long and we used some effects to create horror.

Setting

The setting we used for horror was effective because horror movies are mostly done in awkward settings and we didn't want our film to be stereotype. So we decided to do the filming in school. School's are where students go and study. There are only a few films that are horror in school so we thought it our setting be good and create scariness this would make the film to get positive answers about your film.

The background show's that the setting is in school and how it's a normal day for the character which turn's into a bad scary day. This makes the audience thinking its a ordinary film which turns into a horror film. By doing this it makes our from original from others because we didn't make the setting a horror place which creates the audience more to watch the film.

Sound

The sounds we used was, Bang Noise, Disorientated, Scream Cry and lots more of scary sounds. These sounds created scariness and tension on the film. There's not that much to talk about the sound but all you can say is that it creates great attention on the film for the audience and shows that the film is an horror film.

Customs

The character was wearing normal school clothes and the props she had on with her all school clothes which made it realistic. The props made it the film realistic because wearing horror clothes makes the audience not wondering about what's going to happen because they know it's an horror film.

The custom is school clothes that should be wore in school.

Doors

By locking the doors it turned the film into a horror film. Locking doors is scary and creates tension to the film. We thought that because we was looking at Panic Room the doors are locked so we thought if we looked the door it would remind people of Panic Room as our film is called Panic School.

Lighting

We didn't much change anything about the lighting because it was school we thought how can we can make it dark and we shut lights it was still lighted up.

 This shows the sunlight so we couldn't make the room dark.

Drafting Anaylsis - Evaluation

Film Opening || Research and Planning

Eclipse
Director: David Slade
Writer (Screenplay): Melissa Rosenberg
Writer: Stephenie Meyer
Star Characters: Kristen Stewart (Bella Swan), Robert Pattinson (Edward Cullen), Taylor Lautner (Jacob Black)
Feature Length: 119MINS
Suitable For: 12 Years and Over

a) The camera angle was very effective in the opening. The way it jumped and shaked to show horror was amazing. My zooming and showing that its raining makes the audience to have excitement waiting for what's going to happen.
b) In the film there are many camera angels and movements has been used. These are the ones I noticed: Close Up, Extreme Close Up, Above Angle, Medium Close Up, Wide Shot, Bird Eye View etc.
c)
d)  There are lots of editing which creates more excitement and tension to make the audience wanting to see what's going to happen next.
e) Transitions that are used blurriness, transitions, fade, very fast rapid cutting, dissolve, wipe, cutaway.
f) Mise-En-Scene has been used very creative. The clothing is dull and black, heavy rain, ally ways with a dark night, thunder, etc. The sound is very effective because the rain creates tension and scariness and then he music at the back ground backs it very exciting then suddenly a big bang makes you jump up.
g) In the opening, a guy comes out from a night club an ordinary day. He gets his stuff to go back home but a vampire starts chasing him. After chasing the vampire pushes him to the floor and bites him. The character screams because his in pain then he starts turning into a vampire.
h)
i) The opening was very effective not dull and making the audience wait for what's going to happen. Some scary films starts dull and normal making the audience excitement.

Paranormal Activity

Director: Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman
Writer: Christopher Landon
Star Characters: Chloe Csengery (Katie), Jessica Tyler Brown (Kristi) and Christopher Nicholas Smith (Dennis)
Feature Length: 81MINS
Suitable For: 15 Years and Over

a) In the opening there's not much camera angles but Dennis the character who holds the camera is very good of zooming in and out and how it takes the room making it like an documentary.
b) There are many camera angles and movements. Here are some of them, Medium Close Up, Close Up, Extreme Close Up, Above Angle, Low Angle, 180 Degree Rule, etc.
c)
d) There isn't much editing because the film is filmed by the camera the character is holding. Its good because its like an documentary and its an household camera so their isn't an much editing.
e) To be real there wasn't because its an video recording of the character taking their house. So their wasn't transitions.
f) There wasn't much Mise-En-Scene but the clothing was normal daily clothes, their wasn't light because it was recording. The sound was very effective because the sound that the ghost was doing created great tension and excitement.
g) In the opening is normal ordinary happy family taking videos of their house and family. The character Dennis has stepped into the family new. Everything's normal but in the house there's something strange. In the children's room there's a noise coming in the cupboard.
h)
i) In my opinion the opening was really effective no tension or excitement to show something bad is going to happen but because of the name everyone knows is about a scary movie.

Initial Audience || Research and Planning

Piece 1:

There are 5 types of audience which are; Initial Audience, Gatekeeper Audience, Primary Audience, Secondary Audience and Watchdog Audience.

Initial Audience - Initial Audience is the first audience to get your message. An Initial audience may also tell you to write the message.

Gate Keeper - Has the power of to stop your message in liey of letting it reach the third set of audience that is the primary audience.

Primary Audience - They are the ones who can either accept your recommendation act upon your message.

Secondary Audience - Is when they may asked to comment on your message or implement your presented notions later.

Watchdog Audience - Have an oblique role in the entire process.

My first audience is teenagers and early 20s, who are in school life or the people that like the genre of horror and panicing films. the gender for my film is for girls mainly but it can attract boys that like watching horror in school. The reason that applies for teenagers and girls because the character is a girl and there's no boy action in the film.

2) I asked 10 people that like the genre of horror and 6/10 said they enjoy horror with their friends. They also said that they enjoy watching films with friends and which are school type. Here are some answers they gave.

Q: Do you enjoy horror film?
A: Yes! Horror films are amazing to watch with your friends.

Q: Do you think horror film for school is an good idea? And what does the word Panic School feel?
A: Horror films are better if its in different areas which for example the word of school is an ordinary work place not excitement, but the word of Panic School makes me feel excitement and wanting to watch the film thinking what is different about this film.

Piece 2

1) What do you like about? And why?
2) What di you don't like about? And why?
3) What part do you think worked particularly well?
4) What can we do to make it better?
5) Does it suit with the genre?

Piece 3

I have used Facebook, friends, cousins, Social websites and YouTube to get feedback about my coursework.

Coursework In Progress || Research and Planning

We need some extra scenes, when the phone rings and when she takes the recording outside the door theres the shadow of her and re do it. Theres some bits we need to cut through.
For sound effects were going to use diegetic sound for example the clock going tick tock and phone rings. Also were going to put spooky horror voice of a girl screaming for help. Were going to use a copyright song for our editing and when she's listening to music were going to show that the music is coming from her headphones.
So far were up to finishing the film but we still need work.

Ferminist Theorist

Preliminary Analysis || Research and Planning

a) We used extreme long shot, extreme zoom, mid shot, shot reverse shot, medium close up, extreme close up and 180 degree shot. We didn't have any problems with our camera angel shots and its going very well by sorting them out and planning them.
b) Were going to use diegetic and non diegetic sounds to create excitement to the video.
c) We didn't think about mise-en-scene that much but we thought about lighting making it dark.
d) We edited the prelim together and we had problems with it,  we couldn't upload it on blog or Youtube Account and also we had problems with making an YouTube Account.
e) For prelim we didn't use any lighting but for our actual coursework we are. Because were doing a horror scene the lighting has to b dim and dark.
f) Yes we have
g) We didnt use 180 degree real for prelim.
h) i didnt quiet understand.
i) Yes there is for opening the door for the camera. But for our next recording were not going to do that.
j) Nope

Storyboard || Research and Planning

Storyboard

We're going to have 8 shots which is going to be 2 minutes long. We're doing a horror film of a school girl staying behind after school to do extra work. We choose the common room because after school when there's no-one there it looks dark and scary. We're going to have diegetic sound and non-diegetic sound. We're going to finish it by Beritan (Me) screaming for help as she cries.
1st Shot - Beritan (Me) walks into the common room going to the computer room. The camera angle is going to be mid-shot. Janey (holding camera) Were going to take the common room.

2nd Shot - Beritan (Me) is going to go on the computer. Janey is going to extreme zoom into the computer then shot-reserve-shot from Computer to Beritan.

3rd Shot - 3rd Shot - While Beritan's doing her work on the computer suddenly the lights went off and Beritan is shocked. There's going to be an extreme close up to the lights then a extreme long shot to show Beritan.

4th Shot - The camera is going to zoom into the clock then medium close up then to extreme close up to show that there's something bad is going on. There's going to be digectic sound of the clock going "Tick Tock".

5th Shot - In this shot Beritan runs to grab her stuff, log off from the computer and runs to the door. An extreme close up to her face saying "Oh Great".

6th Shot - Beritan rans to the door, an extreme close up to her hand trying to open the door. She tries hard to open the door but it doesn't open Beritan screams for help!

7th Shot - Beritan feels dizzy and the camera goes around which the camera shot is going to be 180 Degree Rule.

8th Shot - Beritan lean's back to the door screaming for help!
