Evaluation || Question One

 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

For our media product we choose our genre to be horror because Jenay and myself enjoy horror films and thought it would be great to do an horror film. Our film was 2-3 minutes long and we used some effects to create horror.

Setting

The setting we used for horror was effective because horror movies are mostly done in awkward settings and we didn't want our film to be stereotype. So we decided to do the filming in school. School's are where students go and study. There are only a few films that are horror in school so we thought it our setting be good and create scariness this would make the film to get positive answers about your film.

The background show's that the setting is in school and how it's a normal day for the character which turn's into a bad scary day. This makes the audience thinking its a ordinary film which turns into a horror film. By doing this it makes our from original from others because we didn't make the setting a horror place which creates the audience more to watch the film.

Sound

The sounds we used was, Bang Noise, Disorientated, Scream Cry and lots more of scary sounds. These sounds created scariness and tension on the film. There's not that much to talk about the sound but all you can say is that it creates great attention on the film for the audience and shows that the film is an horror film.

Customs

The character was wearing normal school clothes and the props she had on with her all school clothes which made it realistic. The props made it the film realistic because wearing horror clothes makes the audience not wondering about what's going to happen because they know it's an horror film.

The custom is school clothes that should be wore in school.

Doors

By locking the doors it turned the film into a horror film. Locking doors is scary and creates tension to the film. We thought that because we was looking at Panic Room the doors are locked so we thought if we looked the door it would remind people of Panic Room as our film is called Panic School.

Lighting

We didn't much change anything about the lighting because it was school we thought how can we can make it dark and we shut lights it was still lighted up.

 This shows the sunlight so we couldn't make the room dark.

  1. To establish the conventions you could also consider comparing your film to ones from the same genre to illustrate whether you think you have used, developed or challenged the conventions.

    Have a look back at the post I gave of our group's mindmap of what could be included in this section to develop further. http://post16bloghub.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/as-evaluation-homeworks.html
